Develop Committed Leaders to strengthen the movement
The 25th National Council and the 75th anniversary of YCW India were held from 20th to 25th September 2009 at Stella Marys Centre, Kanyakumari. 33 delegates from 10 district movements from Tamil Nadu and Maharastra participated in the council. Mardiyono (Asia Pacific team member) represented the IYCW in the council. 2 representatives from the Labour commission of the Catholic Bishops conference participated as observers.
75th Anniversary of YCW India 
YCW India celebrated its 75th Anniversary on 20th Sept during the opening celebration of the 25th National council. 80 young workers participated in the celebration. The theme of the celebration was “75 years of action for the betterment of young workers”. Ruben, the former national secretary and the convenor of the Cardijn Community International was the chief guest. He explained the history of the actions of YCW India and the influence of the movement in the life of young workers. His presence and speech motivated the young workers. A souvenir was released to mark the 75th year celebration. The district movements presented cultural activities and participants were delighted.
25th National Council
The national council was held from 21st to 25th of September. Amole, the national president explained the objectives of the council. The delegates deepened the analysis on the campaign for social protection from the realities of informal work and unemployment. They evaluated the past 2 years actions of YCW India, the current situation of the movement in terms of its membership, leaders, method of developing the action, the extension, co-ordination and the fiancé situation of the movement. The discussions and deliberations were held in workshops and plenary sessions. The delegates raised questions, presented their opinions and gave reflections on the topics of discussion. The national team work report of the past 2 years was presented by Lawrence, the national secretary. The delegates raised many questions on the work report and the national team gave clarifications and response. At the end the delegates approved the national team work report. The finance report for the past two years was presented by the Felix, the national treasurer. Based on the analysis and the outcome of the discussions the delegates developed a new national plan of action for 2009 – 2011. The budget for the plan for 2009 – 2011 was also developed and approved by the delegates.
The delegates elected a new national team to implement the plan of action. They are Rajesh (President), Ravi Jayaprakash (Secretary), Tamil Kavi (treasurer), Victoria Mary, Dhananjay and Gajendran as team members. Fr. Robert Simon will continue as the chaplain for the new team.
